Transport (getting there and going around)

Getting to Bali
When browsing through airline timetables, don’t look for Bali but for “Denpasar” (DPS), the island’s capital. A growing number of direct flight connections can now be availed between Bali and the following cities: Fukuoka, Adelaide, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Osaka, Rome, Auckland, Taipei, Munich, Paris, Tokyo, Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur, Perth, Brunei, Nagoya, London, Bangkok, Brisbane, Guam, Seoul, Frankfurt, Honolulu, Sydney, Vienna, Singapore, and Zurich. It will take you about 15 to 30 minutes by car from Bali's international Ngurah Rai Airport to Sanur, Kuta, Legian, and Nusa Dua.

Passports and Visas: Guests from Australia, USA, New Zealand, Canada, UK, and most of Western Europe don’t need a visa to enter Indonesia. It is only required that you possess an exit ticket and a passport with at least six months validity at the date of your arrival. A tourist card will be issued to you for a validity of 60-day stay.

Going Around Bali

By Air: There are domestic flights to and from key cities within Indonesia.

By Sea: There are regular passenger ferries from Java and Lombok and cruise ship stop-offs.

Overland: Public transport includes cheap buses and bemos that operate on set routes between towns. You can also charter a bemo or rent a motorcycle or car if you want to travel on your own. A good choice is to travel via Perama, a small bus company that traverse the island from Kuta to Candidasa to Bedugul. Riding on the cheap can be fun too as you usually get to meet interesting people who might be heading off to the same place as you.
